Japan, China Headed for Showdown ‘Down South’

Writer's picture: elizabeth2404elizabeth2404

A prolific writer on Indo-Pacific issues, GRM's Grant Newsham writes in Japan Forward that while North Korea gets most of the attention these days, in the East China Sea a momentous collision is approaching. This is where the People’s Republic of China (PRC), according to Mr. Newsham, aims to humiliate and remove Japan as a threat to Chinese domination of Asia. And China’s claim to Japan’s Senkaku islands is a convenient excuse for picking this fight --whether it be by way of ists preferred "osmosis" strategy or the "sharp, swift war."

Grant's full piece can be found here.
